
After spending the day in the ceramics studio yesterday, I’m thinking I better get to work on my sculpture. Wood and plasticity is the theme and I’m building a 5ft high replication of a Jingdezhen vase out of wood shavings. First step was a thrown positive form and the next step is to paper mache over it with vellum and wallpaper paste. After that dries I’ll start with sawdust and build up from there eventually cutting if off the clay vase and then re-assembling it. Then comes the wood shavings…
