pneumonia…just what I need right now…

It explains a lot but I can’t believe I have pneumonia.  I’m so glad I went to the Dr. yesterday afternoon.  I must have a very functional form or but the truth is I probably am so out of touch with my health and a little too focused on my work.  I got a slight scolding from the Dr to take better care of myself and get better sleep.  …she has got something there.

Here is my 2nd posting of images from the NCECA trip.  They are from the biennial show and not the best images in the world…but here you go:

Where do I start?

Wow – I’ve been gone from this site for so long I don’t even remember how to use it.  I’m not quite sure where to start.  I am currently in my thesis semester at MSU-Denver working on my final show.  The work will be an installation of over 300 cast spheres mounted on the gallery wall resulting in an abstract visual manifestation of the manner in which concepts flow into my brain and transform. I’ve been calling it mind mapping…

Anyway…my school and studio work has been overwhelming my life to say the least and I just haven’t made time for this site.  My goal is to slowly get it going again.

I just got back from the NCECA conference in Houston, followed by some very relaxing days at the beach on Surfside, but now I am home with the flu.  I’m feeling stressed because I have so much work to do but I have no energy to get it done.  Oh well…

So I am here now and I think I will start getting this site going by posting images from the NCECA conference to share with you all.  I didn’t write down the names of all the artists…I was just snapping shots of work I liked or thought was interesting in some way.

Okay…here we go with round one… The following work was in the hallway of  the Contemporary Craft Center in Houston:

Personal Day

Today I am taking a much needed personal day.  I’ve got a few things on my to-do list to take care of but right now I’m just chilling out and surfing the internet for inspiring blogs.

Here are a few so far…

I think maybe I might make some cookies today too…it’s been a while since I’ve paid any attention to my lovely new kitchen aid mixer…

Bruce Mau

Lauren asked us to read this over the weekend – it’s pretty great.  I love manifestos – I’m going to write my own soon.  Manifestos are like punk rock mission statements.

That reminds me – I really need to read Patti Smith’s book soon.

Herbs!

My good friend Priscilla turned me on to Rebecca’s Apothecary here in Boulder and last night I took my first class there.  I am hooked!

The class was called “Herbal Holiday Gift-Making” with certified herbalists Ashlee Bodo and Katie Browning. Besides getting to learn how to make all kinds of tea blends, yummy treats, libations and so on…hanging out on a cold winter night in the apothecary with all those great smells was completely nourishing.  I can’t wait for the next class!  Thanks Priscilla!
